“Raised in Sunny Coast Queensland, I have loved music ever since I can remember. Songwriting is my passion and I love sharing my music with other people - it’s incredible to find someone who resonates with your own song.”
Coining the term, ‘Authentic Rock’ Ella Joy is ‘Set to be a prominent name in the country’s alt/blues rock scene.’ (Right Chord Music). Drawing inspiration from Pearl Jam, Alanis Morissette and Olivia Rodrigo, Ella brings new meaning to the term ‘hell hath no fury like a woman scorned’. She notes her highest achievements as her live band show at The Station, her music gaining interest from American artist developer (who asks to remain anonymous), and the release of Beat You at Your Own Game. Ella Joy fronts the band with guitar and songbook in hand, using her powerful vocals (often likened to Morissette’s) to bring energy to her set. Her writing has been described as revenge-like, tongue in cheek and candid, as she tackles topics that are a testament to her youth. She recites in an article, “Growing up, I was always the kid who had no idea who any of the popular music artists were. Dad always had artists like Dire Straits, Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix playing throughout the house, we never listened to the radio but rather picked our music from an overfilled CD case. Becoming a rock artist wasn’t a choice, it was a given.”
